Bandimere Speedway - The Last Pass
Our film company is officially endorsed by the Bandimere family to produce a documentary on the 65 years of Bandimere Speedway, aka Thunder Mountain.
Thunder Mountain "The Last Pass" - The Story of Bandimere Raceway and the family that has changed the industry forever.
This project is being filmed by 5280 Pictures, SKG Productions, Ltd & in association with Big Red Nose Productions.
Our mission is to narrate the Bandimere story from the perspectives of the family, fans, and racers. We aim to highlight the family's impact on racing, showcasing innovations and capturing the essence of drag racing.
65 years ago, John Sr. constructed a drag strip to complement their auto parts business, fulfilling a dream of providing a safe space for youth to engage in car-related activities. While the facility's location remains unchanged, almost every original structure, including the spark plug-replica tower, has been replaced. The events schedule and impact in the community has expanded tenfold.
In 1988, a crucial $4 million improvement project, prompting a year-long break from the national event circuit, transformed the facility significantly. This overhaul enhanced spectator amenities, pit areas, parking, and sponsor visibility, boosting exposure opportunities. Grandstand seating capacity skyrocketed from 8,000 to over 23,500. Innovations from the team on and off the track have changed the industry and drag racing around the world. John Bandimere, Jr., the track president, reflects on the enduring success of the speedway as the realization of his parents' lifelong dream.
Now Bandimere Speedway aka "Thunder Mountain" is closed. As this chapter is closing we look forward for a new chapter to begin.
