Mission Statement
Our mission is to narrate the Bandimere story from the perspectives of the family, fans, and racers. We aim to highlight the family's impact on racing, showcasing innovations and capturing the essence of drag racing. We welcome fan stories to be shared and victories to be celebrated in our film.
The Story
65 years ago, John Sr. and his family constructed a drag strip to complement their auto parts business, fulfilling John Sr.'s dream of providing a safe space for youth to engage in car-related activities. While the facility's location remains unchanged, almost every original structure, including the spark plug-replica timing tower, has been replaced. The event schedule has expanded tenfold, featuring diverse events like the Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals. John Bandimere, Jr., reflects on the enduring success of the speedway as the realization of his parents' lifelong dream.
Now Bandimere Speedway aka "Thunder Mountain" is closed. The speedway is transitioning and Colorado will lose its most historic landmark in the racing community. It is a track that has not only left its mark on various tracks across the country and the NHRA but has had its influence felt around the world. However, Bandimere Speedway and its achievements will not be forgotten.
In The Last Pass Documentary, you will see and hear from the people who made this legacy possible. Featuring never-before heard stories told through in-depth interviews with the Bandimere family and the various archived footage that hasn't been seen since the day it was captured.
